Goldsmithing course
The Happy Hippies collection consists largely of handmade jewelry. Above our super cool store in the center of Breda you will find our large goldsmith's workshop with roof terrace. Here we make jewelry to order (wedding rings, own design, melting down and much more), but we also give a 10-week goldsmithing course three times a year. In weekly lessons of 2.5 hours each, we teach creative people to make their own jewelry, a cool, fun hobby! Have you always been interested in jewelry and would you like to learn how to make high-quality jewelry by hand in your own design? Then register for our goldsmithing course in Breda.

What are you going to make?
Everyone starts the course by learning the basic skills of goldsmithing. That is why everyone starts by making a silver ring with a gemstone. This completely in your own design. There is also an option to have the ring gold plated afterwards. When you have finished this first product after about 4 or 5 lessons, you can continue with a new piece of jewelry of your choice. You will of course receive all the help you need. You will receive a bit of theory and explanation in each lesson, after which you will get to work under the guidance of the goldsmith. For example, you can also learn how to melt down your own material (such as old gold) and then turn it into something new. In addition to silver, you can also work with real yellow, white or red gold and use specific gemstones on request.
More information & questions
What do you need?
Our goldsmith workshop in Breda has everything you need to make jewelry by hand. It is useful to have a bag or toolbox in which you can keep your own materials and jewelry. A compartment box can be useful for small items. You can take your notes with a notebook and pen. We often have all other materials such as silver and gemstones in stock and can also order them. All types and sizes of gemstones can be ordered through us. Besides all the 'big' tools, it's useful to have some things for yourself. That is why we also offer a starter kit of tools, which includes a saw bracket with saws, a file set and solder. It is of course also possible to purchase this yourself elsewhere. If you have the ambition to get started at home, we can also help you with the materials for this.
What are the costs?
The course consists of 10 weeks, during which you attend a 2.5-hour lesson every week. The costs (excluding materials) are €295, to be paid before the start of the course. The starter package of tools costs €30. The costs for 1 ring depend on the gemstone and the amount of silver used, but on average this is around €35. After the 10-week course it is possible to continue with the course to improve your skills and learn more techniques. After a 10-week course, you have only just tasted the profession.
Please note: you register for a specific 10-week block. Due to the high number of registrations, refunds are not possible. It is also not possible to interrupt your participation and continue the next block.
When can I start?
The courses start several times a year, in January, April and September. There are several groups per week in which we can place you.
Morning classes: from 10am to 12.30pm
Evening classes: from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM
What if I can't make it?
If you miss a lesson, you can only catch up on that lesson in another course group within your block. You have until the end of this block to catch up on your lessons, after the block you can take 1 missed lesson with you to the next block.
What are the options after the 10-week course?
The course runs continuously and is divided annually into three blocks of 10 weeks, one block in January, April and September. After your first 10 weeks you have not finished learning and most students have made about 2-4 pieces of jewelry. So it certainly makes sense that you want to forge even further! It is therefore of course possible to continue the course, but of course not obligatory. We would like to challenge you to create more difficult designs, or if you prefer, you can continue to improve your basic skills. Are you interested in continuing the course? Please report this as soon as possible.
